Shanghai – Shopping Paradise

I'm looking forward to buying in Shanghai? So, which is the best place in the Chinese crazy town?

Shanghai is well known for its best shopping opportunities in China. In Shanghai, you can visit the two major commercial streets of the city – the prestigious Nanjing Xi Lu (Nanjing West Road) and the bustling Huaihai Lu (Huaihai Road).

But much more for shopping than the two obvious places. In fact, you will find streets in large and small full of shopping malls. You can plan a full day of purchase if you want. Even if you do not really like shopping, you still have to visit them. (I know you're a guy, but you're in Shanghai, right?)

Shopping in Shanghai is an experience you'll never forget. Regardless of your shopping fanatics, there are no different shopping malls selling anything from high-end luxury goods to stylish and affordable casual and traditional Chinese craftsmen.

It should be noted that when I write this article, the infamous Xiang Yang market has been closed. Some of those out there who read this will have tremendous memories of highly prepared bargaining with fake carriers who speak six different languages.

Here are some shopping culmination in Shanghai, ranging from Nanjing Xi Lu …

Shanghai Plaza 66
Where: 55 Nanjing Xi Lu, near Shaanxi Lu

Plaza 66 crystalline evidence of Shanghai diligent obsession with consumption. Obviously, Shanghai is the favorite boating mall with frosty behavior.

Whether you're looking for Prada for Pret-a-Porter, Waterford for cystal, Bose, Bang and Olufsen, Plaza 66 has over 100 famous brands.

With castel designer brands, this place is perfect for emerging women and burns money. There is no luxury shopping mall like this in Shanghai.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel is a five-minute walk from Plaza 66's café in the atrium, and some of its restaurants are on the fifth floor.

Shanghai Citic Plaza
Where: 1168 Nanjing Xi Lu, Close to Plaza 66

The bright, glamorous five storey shopping mall with a diverse mix of clothing labels, Citic Plaza is a five-minute walk from Shimen Yi Lu Metro Station.

Top quality designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Chloe and Kenzo make Tough and Esprit more affordable, a shopping mall with more affordable prices.

Whether rich or easy in the budget, this place is perfect for all those who look at fashion.

Do you feel hungry after you've bought everything? I'm not worried about it.

There is a restaurant on each floor of the mall – McDonald's (you will not eat McDonald's in China, right?) In the basement, the super-buffet Golden Jaguar (unlimited sashimi and Pacific oyster) on the third floor, the elegant Sichuan restuarant on China Hold (the local Chinatown Sichuan restuarant places on shame) in the fourth.

By the way, there is a convenience store and an English-Chinese bookstore to search for mineral water or maps.

Shanghai Westgate Mall
Where: 1038 Nanjing Xi Lu near Citic Plaza

An intelligent, well-organized shopping mall offering Burberry, Givenchy and Versace's trendy stores the Chinese label Zuczug. The Westgate Mall is perfect for lovers of shopping malls who spend cash, who like the usual hangout.

A few minutes' walk from Shimen Yi Lu Metro Station, Westgate Halls with Studio City Cinema (Super Audio System), Watson, a small supermarket in the basement, Marie France Sliming Clinic and an Isetan store (a large Japanese chain) on every floor.

And many more …

As I have already mentioned, Nanjing Xi Lu and Huaihai Lu are the most significant shopping streets in Shanghai, but not the only ones. These are modern shopping malls and give you a good idea how things have changed in China over the past 20 years.

Other Shopping …

If you find classic handmade items on older streets like Dongtai Lu. This handicraft market offers many classic items such as Chinese ceramics, jade, bronze, wood, paintings and calligraphic works. You can also get the tools if you are yourself or an artist.

More than one intellectual shopping street, Fuzhou Lu boasts a huge collection of bookstores in Shanghai. It offers not only more than thirty bookstores, but there are some of the oldest bookstores (more than 100 years old) in Shanghai.

Shopping in Shanghai is probably the most time consuming activity in Shanghai for both visitors and locals. In larger shopping malls on popular streets, small streets or smaller markets on special markets where shopping fanatics find the paradise.

I'm a foreigner who traveled to Shanghai and realized that it's a tough time in Shanghai if you're not well informed. That is why I have decided to make a full online guide to the latest information and tips on how to feel comfortable in Shanghai, regardless of whether you are traveling to Shanghai or living in a city.
